TAS says IRS in constant crisis
According to a recently released report to Congress from the Taxpayer Advocate Service, “the IRS is in crisis.” The report cites three reasons for this: the COVID-19 pandemic, severe budget cuts over the years and new IRS responsibilities resulting from COVID-19 relief laws. “During 2021, tens of millions of taxpayers were forced to wait extraordinarily long periods of time for the IRS to process their tax returns, issue their refunds, and address their correspondence,” the report states. In fact, taxpayers visited the IRS’s Where’s My Refund webpage 632 million times in 2021, compared to 369 million in 2019, a nearly 70% increase. For more information: https://bit.ly/3fjceRo
